Numbers, Ratios & Representations

Mathematical tools used to represent, analyze, and communicate chemical information.

You’ve encountered many of these skills in math and earlier science courses. In Science 10, they are used to describe quantities, compare substances, interpret data, and communicate results clearly.

While these tools are mathematical, they are essential scientific skills. They support laboratory work, chemical reasoning, and evidence-based explanations throughout Unit A.

Key mathematical tools

Practice supports and refreshers for these skills will be added as you work through Unit A.

Why these skills matter

These tools support problem solving, data analysis, and accurate communication in chemistry. They allow you to explain relationships, justify conclusions, and understand what your calculations and graphs are showing.
